We were too scared about ragging but ultimately this turned out to be fun. They asked our names, asked some of the females to sing a song from a movie/film and I too was ragged as I had to talk to all the senior girls of the College and if I did not do so, I would have been teased by the seniors!!! I had to pick up some conversation with most of the girls of the College like their names, from where they come from, would you like to have a cup of tea with me, or shall we go to the canteen for a cup of tea or coffee? Most often the girls used to join me too either for a tea or coffee or just to pick up a conversation with me under the tall trees which grew in the College. Yes it was a mild form of ragging but we did enjoy it. It gave us a new outlook towards the world of today!

As we too entered the IIIrd yr. as seniors we also used to rag most of the students both boys & girls together. We used to ask the same things what our seniors had asked us before and told the freshers to do the same! We asked them which branch they had taken and we too requested them to join us at the hotels and restaurants, for which most of the girls agreed!

True Friends-Are Valuable Indeed!!!

Friends are those who don't cheat you but would always try to lend a helping hand and often support you through out all the odds that face you. Divya, the well known dancer around Thippasandra & Jeevan Bima Nagar, LIC Colony was known to me from the year 1998 through Ankushi & Mithaksi whose parents were transferred to <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Delhi. I was really stunned by the immense talents the boys of this school had displayed & by the coaches imparting various skills of hockey to these young lads. I had really learnt a lot about Hockey only now. The scoop, how to aim at the goal from different angles and how to pass the ball while nearing the goal. The coaches' advice to the goalkeepers was not to fall while saving a goal as this may prove to be an advantage for the opposing team. The goalkeepers were too good at their tasks. My best wishes for them and also for their future endeavours. We as spectators/audiences think it is very easy to play Hockey but today I did learn that been a hockey player is not an easy task at all. We do have lots of talents and we must give these young lads a lot of opportunities so that they could prove themselves in the years to come. There are some youths who believe in hard work and in serving the nation but there are other intelligent youths who believe mainly in accumulating more and more ' Money' on hand and also believe in whiling away their time by indulging in a lot of mischievous deeds.

For all the Sports Lovers

Been selected as a sports player for most of the sports. Then we were imparted batting skills, fielding skills, bowling skills & wicket keeping skills. We were taught how to grip the bat as lightly as possible for stroking the ball. In the fielding department we had to run towards the ball thrown by the coach, collect it and throw at the stumps in one go!! No balls and wide balls were the main focus in the bowling department. As I do have long hands I was also imparted wicket-keeping skills. Not like the other wicket keepers of today I used to stand up and keep rather than sit and I was advised by the coach to collect the ball in my hands as it passed by the wickets and keep my legs together rather than apart while collecting the ball so that the ball does not pass through the legs.
